Human
Horsetrials proves to be a success!
Sunday 16th December 2007
To all
those of you who competed in and supported the Human Horsetrials
a huge and massive thank you – while money is still being
counted it looks like we have managed to raise some well needed
funds for our riders trying to get to Beijing.
Despite the most adverse and insane weather conditions it was
great to see so many of you out competing – highlights
of course include Vince Roche’s spectacular efforts at
the Liverpool jump, Brett Delamont’s priest, body surfing
through Shane Rose’s legs, Amanda Wood’s deeply disobedient
deflating horse, Harry Potter’s magical wipe out at the
last. In the Dressage, some of the most memorable were the 6
legged horse’s nose dive into the dirt, the Fasher’s
Mad Hatter spanking the naughty bunny routine among so many
other accomplished performances.
Fiona Hughes’s commentary of
the day was legendary. Not only was her expert eye able to
decipher the most high level and advance dressage movements
being executed; but her commentary warmed the cockles of many
a heart and opened many a wallet, so thank you.
Of course a
special mention must go to those parents who so whole heartedly
embraced the idea of bribing the judges – in
fact many asked could this not become regular feature of Eventing
and the fantastic jackets donated by Bates were being bought
at 3 times their actual value – (it would have been cheaper
to bring one from Equestworld Tony). Thank you to our fantastic
judges Trevor, Jacqui & Jo who so readily stooped to being
bribed, I’m sure there is an alternative career as a
town planner out there waiting for you.
The day would not have been complete without the amazing culinary
creations of Lee Hokianga who fed everyone the most delicious
Fratelli Fresh food and has left large amounts of it in the
fridges here, which has made our Christmas. To Lee and your
fantastic crew thank you for a stellar effort and can we have
some more meatballs?
Karen & Robbie’s Club Equus tent was a warm and welcome
refuge for so many, providing not only shelter from the elements,
but a place where parents could be comforted by great food & drink
after being well and truly fleeced by their kids – I think
they’ll be receiving a few more memberships in the mail.
Thank you for your support.
To Amanda Wood and Alana Delamont, thank you for your raffling
efforts which were great, not mention the special prize trophies – only
to be matched by your performances on the field.
For those of you who would like a photographic record of the
day Peter Orr from Main Event Photography was there www.maineventphotography.com.au,
It was great to see him snapping out and about, making it feel
like a true event, even if he was without Judy, who sadly couldn’t
make it. Thanks for your support and the great prizes.
Lastly a huge and resounding thank you to the cast and crew
of Wallaby Hill Farm who went to unparalleled lengths to bring
this great day about – as always you are unending source
of support and help, and you work tirelessly to make this place
what it is. It is a pleasure to work with you all – please
never leave.
To all of you who have supported us in the past
and continue to do so, to those of you who came to Wallaby
Hill Farm for the first time and competed in the
torrential rain, thank you.
Take a look at a special video
moment & photo gallery from the day.
